Intwition

Idea #64 - Posted in Drained Comments (7) - Traffic & Stats - Updates
This is an idea that has been drained, was never made or is no longer available.
This Idea has been relaunched as a new type of app ( Idea 66 ), for more check out Intwition - Relaunched

Intwition tracks what people are linking to and talking about on Twitter.

Lookup a website on Intwition and you will see all of the tweets about the page. It provides the total number of tweets as well as the total ‘reach’ of a URL which is the number of users the link had the potential to reach. This is calculated by adding the number of followers of all those who posted the link.

In addition to individual pages, Intwition provides a snapshot of all the tweets about each site as a whole. For example, by looking up Flickr, we can see the total number of comments and reach for all pages on Flickr, the most recently twittered about pages, and a list of who links to Flickr the most.

Intwition works by scanning Twitter’s public feed for posts with links, while resolving any shortened urls (such as tinyurl).

Perhaps the most useful feature is the ability to track all tweets about a specific site through RSS feeds provided for every domain. (Example: http://intwition.com/rss/techcrunch.com)

I whipped this up over the past week and even in it’s early stage I have a lot of ideas for moving forward. So please feel free to leave any suggestions, I’m listening!

  1. It’s a crowded space, but I *really* like the rss feeds for domain names.

Only suggestion would be to add page titles to the links on the homepage.

  3. AWESOME idea and implementation. And when I mean awesome, i mean awesome.

What first caught my eye was the nice clean interface but then the actual concept and usability of Intwition made me stay on the website. Not only is it a new Twitter app but it adds a whole new dimension to bringing about hot news from Twitter which is looking to be the next big thing.

My only suggestion is adding a time viewing option like “most tweets in past week, 2 weeks, month, etc” because some people might be interested in beyond the current day.

I see that you have the overall Leaderboard part but first I am wondering is that for all known tweets or just the tweets since launch and do you think at one point it will remain static with the top tweeted links and lose its usefulness?

Overall awesome site, I look forward to more from you and the IdeaShower

  4. I would love to see who was the first to link to a story. I also think this would be a great way to see what was linked to multiple times while I was offline. A great starting point for a social media/news addict!

  6. One small bug I found. The url shortening service is.gd is case sensitive so the url is.gd/43T is not the same as is.gd/43t. This causes false positives on the website. But otherwise great work.

  7. As intwition is currently down I’m not sure whether or not there’s an api - if there isn’t could we have one? From the comments above can’t wait for it to come back online
