blackberry issues
Blackberry issues:
1. "Mark as Read" in readitlaterlist.com often has no visible effect until "refresh" is done.
2. "Mark as Read" followed by "refresh" really takes a long time
3. readitlatedlist.com demands re-login frequently, maybe on average once every 30 minutes, even though it is in continuous use. It would be helpful if it could remember that I am logged in.
4. Perhaps a readitlater blackberry app would be helpful

Hey Dwight, I will try to get hold of a Blackberry soon and see if I can reproduce this.

Have you been experiencing this a lot? Just wondering if perhaps it was your connection at the time as well.
Thanks! -

Hi. #2 above is definitely lessened (though not eliminated) by good connectivity. The others do not seem to be affected by the quality of connection.

I'm beginning to work on providing better support to Blackberry users and I need your help.
I'm putting together a large guide covering using Read It Later on all platforms: http://readitlaterlist.com/devices/
Since I don't have access to every possible combination of device and platform, I reaching out to the user base to help fill in the cracks.
Take a look at: http://readitlaterlist.com/devices/blackberry/
See what works and what doesn't. Then, if you can provide better instruction for using Read It Later with Blackberry, shoot me a line back.
Thanks for your help and support!

re: "access your list online" section of blackberry documentation:

1. I am not clear on what "and more" references. Could you spell it out?
2. As mentioned elsewhere, one can in fact use the blackberry browser to go to readitlaterlist.com and mark an item read. But the display on the blackberry frequently (but not always) continues to show the item on the unread list until the browser's "refresh" function is used. I think your documentation should spell this out, as in (a) create a bookmark in the blackberry browser for readitlaterlist.com, (b) log in with your userid and password, (c) click on the link for an item you are ready to read. (d) when done reading, use the bookmark (or the escape key) to go back to the reading list, (e) log in again if requested, (f) click on the "mark as read" link under the item you just read, (g) if the item is still in your unread list brinig up the browser menu and click "refresh"
re RSS feeds:
I actually have not yet used RSS on blackberry and I am looking forward to trying it out. But first, here's my problem. The link to RSS does not show up on the mobile version of readitlaterlink.com - I would expect to deal with this by switching to normal view. However when I click on "switch to normal view" the page re-paints and I get the mobile view again. Something is switching me back to mobile before the normal view can get displayed. So I never get to the RSS link. -

I am unable to make the bookmarklets do anything useful on my blackberry. Maybe someone more clever than I will figure it out but if not you should drop this from the documentation.

saving a page by email is a very exciting possibility - this will work for me. this is great.
but there is a problem. i have a lot of email addresses. most blackberry users do. from the blackberry I can send and receive mail from eight different email addresses and as I understand it, pages i mail to readitlater will only show up if the email account i mail it through is the one that is registered in my readitlater account. It is really easy to loose track and use the wrong email account - I would expect that the majority of my pages would get lost as a result. What would make this better would be if I could register a list of additional email addresses and tell readitlater that any mail arriving on **any** of these addresses should be viewed as belonging to my account. Of course you would want to send a confirmation email and only register the additional address if I can click a link in the confirmation, in order to prevent people from intercepting each other's pages. -

Thanks so much, this is great.
First, I just updated the email service to accept multiple accounts but you'll need to resetup your account at http://readitlaterlist.com/services (each email needs to be confirmed)
I've got a few things I need to push this afternoon but I'll come back and respond to these other items soon.
Thanks!

okay i set up my forst six email addresses. I got confirmations for five of them (my problem, not yours). So I went into readutlater "my account" and saw five confirmed one unconfirmed. Here's the problem - when I clicked on the unconfirmed one it took me to twitter which doesn;t seem useful.

Hi Nate,
Posted Aug 5 09 Version: Blackberry Bold Browser: Other reply
I am using a Blackberry Bold and the site seems to be working fine. I don't imagine Bookmarklets will ever work but blame the browser.
The only fault is that I can't post by email, I get a reply stating that no URLs were found in the message. I have seen similar with other services in the past and I believe the cause is the encoding used by the BB email client. I can do some digging if you like but I think it uses Base64 and simply requires the email consumer to decode.
Fantastic product for those of us on the go.
Thanks,
Jordan-

Would you mind sending some emails to RIL@ideashower.com the same way you would send one to the add@ address? I'll check it out and see what the issue is.
Thanks!-
