Can not get bookmarks to show in the readitlater lists. From old version to new and can not sync

First reported 696 days ago in Version Newsest Version: Newsest Browser: Firefox 3.6

Hi. I need help as soon s possible. Make a long story short. I had the old version. When it updated i lost all my bookmarks saved. Well i didnt lose them of course as they are in my bookmark folder under 'readitlater' but.. I also tried a different topic here as a fix with no luck as there is no drop down to change the path folder.

So basically i can not get them to sync or to even show up in my lists.

How do i get them to show yup in my lists again.

The only way i got it to kinda work is by downgrading back to the older version so they could be read.. which at first the didnt show up in that one either but long story short i did get them to show in the list but could not get them to sync that way either.. So i just went ahead and updated again and that is how i got them to show in the new version lists also but STILL could not sync.

So i had to reformat my computer.. when i did that i did not want to worry about the old version at all anymore so did not do the same thing again. I just installed the new version. So from here i need to know how to get them to show on my lists and also so i can sync them so they are safe and can be re synced when i added new etc etc..

Please email me and let me know when this is answered as i do not think it notifies us. Please. I will try and check it everyday as i need this help fast as i have important read it later marks i need to read and go threw and mainly sync.

Please help asap. Thanks.

    Hey

Do you still have access to your old Read It Later folder in Firefox's bookmarks or did you lose that when you reformatted?

If you do, you can import those into the new version by opening Firefox's bookmarks and right clicking the folder. There will be a 'save for later' option.

Then afterwards, open RIL's options and select the Account tab. At the top it should say 'Logged in as USERNAME'. Make sure this matches your username.

    Hi,
I received your email and replied back and haven't heard nothing back from you to help. I have got them put back into the readitlater list by going to the organize bookmarks and right click and selected 'save to read later. But now can not get them to save and sync / backup. How can i get them to sync now ??

As i click sync and even full sync and they will NOT sync to my account list.

    Please help

    Hey,

Sorry, I was waiting to hear back after you said you were going to post back.

If you open your list (using these instructions: http://www.ideashower.com/support/read-it-later/where-can-i-find-my-reading-list/) does your list appear there?

If so, open RIL's options and select the Account section. At the top it says 'Logged in as USERNAME' What is the username? (You can provide it in the private info box below)

Yes the button is there and i got the links (bookmarks) from the readitlater bookmark folder over into the read it later drop down list as shown in that picture but they will not sync. I got the over there by opening my organize bookmarks. Then right clicked on main RIL folder and selected: "save all to read later"

They then showed in the RIL drop down under the toolbar button but will not sync.

Either way, a simple sync or a full sync.

Added it to the private section.

When you sync are you getting an error or does it appear to work (even though it doesn't?)

    No errors.
I just click sync, or full sync and either way works. After i do it i check the online version in my account and nothing their. (even with a refresh or re-log in)

So yeah basically just seems to work but doesn't.

Can you email me a screenshot of the account section of your RIL options?

You can email it to support@readitlaterlist.com

Yeah sure can. I will send you 3. One of account option settings within the extension settings. Then the drop down RIL list, then one of the online account.

I will send them right now.

    Two things:

    ----

    1.

Can you open the Error Console in Firefox (it's under the tools menu). Select the Errors tab and clear it.

Then try to sync. Do any errors appear in the console? If so, you can right click them to copy.

    ----

    2.

I see that you have a number of add-ons, can you disable all of them except for RIL, restart and then try to full sync?

OK here is a pic of the error list. It seems only though for the site. As because every time i close my browser i have to relog into the extension. To be able to use the account part of it of course. So when i did that above. I logged in, and takes me to the site and says like it had just been installed.

    See SS.: http://i44.tinypic.com/29w232t.png

I can't try that other now. But will tomorrow first thing.

I also replied to your email..

    Thanks

OK sorry was real busy yesterday. Alright i enabled ALL my addons and then tried and still nothing also. No work.

I also mentioned above but saying here to that i notice as well as the options box even says to secure password in save place etc... Well as i stated every time i log in. It seems to act like its the first install and takes me to that first install page.

Not sue if that has anything to do with the issue but..

Mainly all that i was doing was switching from the old version to the new and cant get it to sync. I did all the steps correct to switch to new version as well.

Let me ask you this also, In this new version. Where are the actual bookmark (RIL) links suppose to be stored at ?? Like the old version was stored in our Bookmarks. In the Read It Later folder. So with this new version are they still suppose to be stored there or some where else ??

    PS`
I also send a request in for the newest version. The Digest one. So please except if you would. Thxs.

oohh i also think if i remember correctly. I had to change something (which you stated here on your forum somewhere) in the about:config . Not sure if that might be effecting something. But mainly just did a reset to default on a few lines in there i think so i could even get the new version to work and get my links over into the actual list from my RIL folder inside the bookmarks. But... I did that first. Then got my links to show in the RIL list dropdown. But just cant get them to sync since of course.

Thanks so far for the help. ;)
