edit url

First suggested 554 days ago in Version 2.0.6 Version: 2.0.6 Browser: Firefox 3.6

I see requests for editing just about everything else, but not for editing the URL of a saved page. This would REALLY help me!

Mostly, it would help me troubleshoot. There's so many bits that tend to get added to URLs these days -- referrers, or instructions -- that sometimes I find it easier to remove these and just view the page straight, plain address. For various reasons.

One reason is I've come to rely on "Text View" a lot in RIL. For example, saving this NYT page in RIL: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/24/magazine/24patterson-t.html?partner=rss&emc=rss&pagewanted=all indicates that you want to see all pages of the long article, which works when called in the regular browser view, but doesn't work in the Text View. If I could just edit the RSS information out of the URL, it would work! This is also important because you can't navigate internally in Text View -- clicking on Page 2 doesn't work.

A related general example would be, I've saved Page 1 of a long article, and I decide I'd rather have the link point to all pages or a "print" view at a different URL so I can read everything on one page. But nothing else would have to change, like the title, or the order its saved in my list.

I know I could just mark as read, fix the URL, and re-mark as to-read. But I have a lot on my list and it helps that they're sorta chronological and blah, I don't want to re-organize it all. I keep an eye out for this going forward, but there's a lot of old stuff I've carefully saved.

Btw, I love Read It Later so much, I can hardly bear to ask for anything! Keep up your great work, and thanks for making the internet even better to use. Be my valentine, RIL!
