I don't currently have a native plug-in for Safari, but you can get much of Read It Later's functionality by using the RIL bookmarklets in Safari.

There are three:
-Save for later
-Mark As Read
-Reading List
You can download them from http://readitlaterlist.com after logging into your account! -

I would love to use Read It Later with Safari but find the current non-pluggin solution inelegant. Please consider it, I'm only using FireFox because of Read it Later.

I moved back to Safari from Firefox and so far, nothing has compared to Read It Later for ease of use. It would be amazing if the full Read It Later plugin were available for Safari.

Can FireFox's support be used via GreaseKit by chance? That could do what we want nicely, but I haven't tried it yet. Private comment hidden

I don't really miss the RiL plugin for Firefox. For me, the Safari bookmarklets work just fine.

P.S: In the optional section that appears below the commenting box, Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard is not listed! lol! -

I would like to continue using Safari. Now I have to go to Firefox to save stuff for offline. Getting annoyed. Maybe will switch to Firefox permanently/

I also agree. I like both Safari and Firefox, but Safari permits me more compatibility with everything else on my Mac. As such, I'd rather use it instead of Firefox, but I love RIL so much.... in Firefox, we can add tags immediately when you add a bookmark, whereas in Safari you have to do this after you've added the the link to your RIL. It adds a step that is not necessary. Also, it's just *so cool* to have RIL in your browser like this!!

I guess the Dev are ignoring us?

You see, Dev, when you make a product it should function how the end user wants it to.
When you can cater for the needs of the user, your future releases look a lot more attractive to them.
What am i getting at?
Digest.
I would quite happily PAY for digest RIGHT NOW - But considering you are actively ignoring the Mac community, and their most used browser, makes me think that you may ignore any request for Digest.
When you get one thing like this right, i'll consider investing into your other developments.

I'm hardly ignoring the Mac community.

The largest part of my development time goes into iPhone and iPad development.
I would love to be able to build extensions for every browser and every platform, but I'm simply one man. I only build native apps for the platforms that I'm using. Building an app that I do not personally use would only mean a low quality app and I have no intention of sacrificing quality.
This is why I opened up the RIL API so that other developers can help fill holes. The Chrome community has already built half a dozen extensions for RIL in Chrome. This is partially due to the fact it is far easier to build an extension in Chrome than it is for Safari.
You can still use RIL within Safari using the bookmarklets which provides the same core one click saving functionality as you get anywhere else. I've built a brand new interface (Digest) which works beautifully in Safari. And I've got plans to using HTML5 to bring offline reading to every browser, including Safari.

Bump, as Safari 5 now has extensions.

Anyone up for the challenge? -

With Safari 5 now supporting 3rd party extensions, is a full-featured RIL (ala Firefox) for Safari on the horizon?

There is already a 3rd party Safari Extension for ReadItLater which works fine for me: http://revision1.com/2010/06/save-for-later-safari-5/

You can use the bookmarklets with nifty unicode symbols as icons, guys.

I use this:
✚ >> for the "add item" bookmarklet
》Digest >> for the digest link
and a "Read It Later" button with some javascript to open it in a separate window. -

Hey folks,

I tried Save it Later for Safari for a while, but then it stopped working.
I now use one called Procrastinate. It's not bad, but it creates a whole menu bar, which takes up some space. You can find it on the Read it Later website.
